Practice Hospitality

It’s the season of hospitality. For most of the next few weeks we’ll either be guests or
hosts. What a great time to set aside personal differences, reflect on what we’ve accomplished — as well as what we haven’t — and to recommit to pursuing those
things that matter most to us.

Last week two of my colleagues and I were hosts. We entertained two of our business partners, taking them on a trip to southwestern Minnesota to spend a day in the field chasing pheasants. We had a glorious day in all respects. But the capper was the note we received the next day: “Thanks for helping fulfill the dream of a lifetime.”

The most important gift we can give to colleagues, clients, family and friends this season is our friendship and everything that comes with it. Just remember, if it takes extra time, it’s worth the investment.
